Disability business funding announced
Federal Member for Barker, Patrick Secker MP, has announced Commonwealth funding of $2500 each for four disability business services in Mount Gambier and Millicent.
The grants are from the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs for disability business services to promote and market their products across all of their outlets.
“Business services are commercial enterprises which enable people with disability to engage in a wide variety of work tasks. These include packaging, assembly, production, recycling, screen printing, plant nursery, garden maintenance and landscaping, cleaning, laundry and food services,” Mr Secker said.
Funds have been allocated to:
• Heritage Industries Incorporated, Mt Gambier.
• Bedford Industries, Mt Gambier East
• Millicent Work Option Centre
• Orana Inc, Mt Gambier
“Employees of business services enjoy the same working conditions as those in the general workforce and the funding I have secured for these businesses will help the organisation to improve their market visibility and grow sales,” Mr Secker said.
“I look forward to these businesses growing to enable them to continue to provide supported employment assistance to people with a disability in the community, who need substantial ongoing support to maintain their employment.”
